Civil Engineer

Position Overview

A Civil Engineer is sought by a new-tech electric RV design company in Orange County, CA to perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities

• Apply advanced civil and structural engineering principles in the design of trailer chassis, expandable frames, composite panels, and modular housing components for mobile-based residential products.
• Create detailed structural drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using CAD and other technical design software to support the prototyping of the Electric Transformer House (eTH) and related RV-based housing systems.
• Perform structural analysis and simulation using engineering software such as OpenSees, HyperWorks, and ANSYS to assess performance under stress conditions including load, movement, and climate factors.
• Ensure structural design compliance with California and national building codes, including research and application of regulatory standards for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
• Contribute to the preliminary design of internal utility systems, including HVAC and plumbing systems, integrating water-efficient features such as shower loop systems into space-constrained mobile layouts.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams and product designers to ensure seamless integration of structural and mechanical systems across modular housing platforms.
• Support the assembly, transport, and on-site setup of housing prototypes for demonstration events, including structural inspection, loading/unloading, and basic maintenance.
• Prepare structural calculation packages, compliance reports, and internal documentation to support engineering decisions and regulatory readiness.
• Conduct design revisions and problem-solving throughout the construction and prototyping process, making necessary adjustments to maintain safety, efficiency, and structural integrity.
• Investigate and evaluate alternative materials and construction techniques to improve the sustainability, durability, and cost-efficiency of mobile-based housing systems.

Required Skills and Qualities:

• Master's degree in civil engineering or its foreign equivalent.
• One year of experience in structural design and modeling.
• Proficient in engineering software, including OpenSees, AutoCAD, Revit, and Mathcad.
• Proficient in coding languages, including MATLAB, C++, and R.
• Strong team collaboration skills.
